Explore Saint-Charles-Sur-Richelieu

Saint-Charles-sur-Richelieu was a small market town that became prosperous thanks to a seigneur named Dominique Debartzch. In 1830, this village was the commercial centre of the Bas-Saint-Laurent. Many businesses, including a foundry, a dairy, a butter maker, a sawmill, a tannery, mills and other establishments formed the dynamic and prosperous core of the village of Saint-Charles.

Today, Saint-Charles is home to magnificent old homes and boasts a remarkable religious heritage. Saint-Charles is also rich in history, with its battlefield, a living heritage of know-how, oral traditions and local folklore.
