A member of the lily family, the white trillium is easy to identify by its three leaves and three pure white petals. In May, vast carpets of trilliums cover the ground in maple stands. It takes this slow-growing plant over 10 years to bloom, and it can be as much as 100 years old! In recent years, the white trillium population has declined, in part because people pick it. Wouldn’t it be better to simply admire this beautiful plant in its natural setting so that it can continue to delight future generations?
